Iain Dick

“I encourage all of you to seek out teachers and mentors that challenge you to think for yourself and guide you to find your own voice.”

Renee Olstead

Iain began his career in 1980 in the Clydesdale Bank in Newton Stewart, Dumfries and Galloway. After serving numerous branches as a banking officer, and also working on a four-year secondment as a Union officer representing staff, he went home to Wigtownshire. Once there and in familiar surroundings, he had a very happy career with the Cooperative Insurance Society (CIS).

After a while, Iain then took a four-year break to study at Glasgow University for a Masters in Theology & Classics. He married in 1998 and helped to raise five children before leaving CIS to become his own boss in 2004 as an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA) for the first time. He joined MAP in 2009 shortly after it was formed, and within a year, was offered the positions of Compliance Director and Supervisor.

After 40 genuinely pleasurable years in financial services as an adviser, Iain decided at the end of 2021 to take a small step back. He reduced his advising duties whilst becoming a mentor for younger advisers in the firm who could benefit from his wealth of experience and knowledge. This also allows him extra time to take up some of the local voluntary pursuits he has become fond of, but up until now, has not had the time to do. In other words, he now has the perfect work/life balance.

It has been a great pleasure for Iain to have worked alongside Elaine, Andrew and Iain at management level and to have been trusted for the positions he still holds today within the firm.
