• As MAP are fully FCA-authorised (Financial Conduct Authority), there are a number of compliance requirements which must be carried out by an adviser when meeting with clients. A client agreement is provided so that the client has a written copy of all of MAP’s terms and conditions. This document also lets them see the various services on offer and lets them make an informed choice on the service level which is right for them.

Initial Services

A MAP adviser must also undertake verification of identity, and complete a confidential fact find. This allows them to gather as much information as is needed by the adviser, to allow them to make informed decisions which are in the best interests of the client. Good information leads to good advice, so the more an adviser can find out about a client, the better the advice they provide will be.

Clients only ever need provide the information they feel comfortable with, so there is no need for anyone to feel under pressure to provide information if they are not comfortable in doing so. Furthermore, all information is treated as confidential and will never be shared with anyone else, other than providers with whom policies can potentially be taken out.

Thereafter, what is discussed next is down to what the client wants:

  • A general discussion can take place so the client can explain what they are looking for, without going into any great detail;
  • Existing policies can be reviewed to see if all, some or none are still fit for purpose;
  • A general plan of action can be put together to map out the various stages needed to achieve desired financial goals; and
  • A detailed written planning report encompassing all areas of finance the adviser deems necessary can be prepared and provided.

All initial services are completely obligation-free. No client will ever be put under pressure to sign-up for anything they are unsure of and have not made an informed decision about. Our clients calls all the shots; and so they should – it is their money after all.
